Red Lion touch screen not working: CR3000 / G3 checklist

Display alive but touch dead is the classic Red Lion complaint — and the cause is a short list: calibration, a bezel gasket pressing the overlay, or a failed digitizer. The system menu (reachable with a boot-time button combo) settles most of it, and Crimson being a free download makes the spare-panel strategy unusually cheap on this brand.

Getting into the system menu

  • CR3000 / units with a reset button: hold the reset button on the side while applying power, and keep holding until the system menu appears. Touch calibration lives there.
  • G3 series: hold the first two soft-keys while applying power; after the copyright page the screen goes blank — release, and the system menu shows.

Red Lion touch questions

How do I recalibrate the touch screen on a Red Lion CR3000?

Boot into the system menu: hold the reset button on the side of the unit while applying power and keep holding until the menu appears (on G3 units: hold the first two soft-keys during power-up, release when the screen blanks after the copyright page). Touch calibration is in that menu.

Touch worked for months, then died — worth repairing?

Field reports of CR3000 touch failing after months of service exist, and calibration or firmware doesn't bring those back — that's digitizer or touch-controller hardware. Before paying: loosen the mounting and reseat the bezel gasket; a folded gasket pressing the overlay has been the whole problem in documented cases. If touch stays dead, a $300–$1,000 repair or a spare unit are the paths.

Is Red Lion's software really free?

Crimson 3.x is a free download from Red Lion, and a project database moves to a same-family replacement without license transfers. A shelf spare plus a saved project file is the cheapest insurance this brand offers — take advantage of it before the next failure.
