PanelView 600 replacement: first, which 600 do you have?

"PanelView 600" names three different products: the old Standard 600 (2711-), the PanelView Plus / Plus 6 600 (2711P-), and the PanelView Component C600 (2711C-). The catalog number on the rear label settles it — and each family has a different replacement story.

Standard 600 (2711-): the rebuild case

Same story as the 550: PanelBuilder32 projects (.pba) don't convert, so the application is rebuilt by hand on the new platform. Rockwell's migration mapping sends the keypad and keypad-and-touch variants (K6C/B6C) to the 6.5″ Plus 7 Performance with adapter kit 2711P-RAAK7 for the cutout, and the touch-only T6C to the 6″ Plus 7 Standard with no adapter. Check the comms variant on the label — DH-485 and RS-232 units need the comms plan settled before you order hardware.

Plus 600 / Plus 6 600 (2711P-): the friendly case

Here the application survives: .mer projects carry forward to a Plus 7 with firmware and FactoryTalk View version care. If all you have is the .mer runtime and the original .apa archive is lost, recover it from the terminal before it dies completely. Component C600 (2711C-): the import case

The official successor is the PanelView 800 — Connected Components Workbench imports PanelView Component applications, screen sizes map one-to-one, and CCW is a free download. Of the three 600s, this is the one where migration is genuinely routine.

What replaces a PanelView 600?

Depends which 600 you own — the rear label settles it. Standard 600 (2711-): rebuild on a Plus 7 or PanelView 800, since PanelBuilder32 projects don't convert. Is the PanelView Plus 600 obsolete?

Yes — the PanelView Plus 6 line, the 600 included, was discontinued at the end of 2022 (Remote I/O and DeviceNet versions earlier). The Plus 7 is the successor, and the application carries forward with firmware and FactoryTalk View version care.

Will my .mer file run on the replacement panel?

From a Plus/Plus 6 600 to a Plus 7: yes, with attention to firmware and FactoryTalk View versions — and recover the editable .apa archive from the old terminal while it still boots. From a Standard 600 or Component C600: no — those families use different software entirely (rebuild, or CCW import respectively).

Can I keep the machine running while the new panel ships?
