The comms case: DOP ↔ DVP settings
- Match the serial parameters exactly. In DOPSoft: Communication Parameters. Delta DVP serial defaults are 9600, 7, E, 1, ASCII, station 1 — the HMI side must mirror them field for field. One mismatch is total silence.
- Station number: the HMI's target station must equal the PLC's actual station; after CPU swaps the station often resets to default.
- RS-485 wiring: A/B polarity and termination — a swap can work on the bench and fail on the machine.
- Generic Modbus instead of the Delta driver? Then the register mapping is on you. Prefer the Delta driver (it addresses D/M registers natively); if you must go raw Modbus, take the offsets from the DVP communication-protocol manual rather than guessing — the mapping is not intuitive.
The touch case
Calibration lives in the DOP system menu. If calibration won't hold or zones stay dead, it's the resistive layer — and here the economics differ from the big brands: DOP units are inexpensive enough that replacement usually beats a $300+ repair. The catch is the project: transferring it to the new unit needs the DOPSoft project file, or an upload from the old unit if upload was left enabled. Check that today, not during the outage.
